HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: MASHANIC THROWS NO-HITTER AS ELMIRA WINS FIRST GAME IN NEW STADIUM (24 PHOTOS) (2024-04-17) Southern Tier Sports Report ELMIRA — Bryce Mashanic threw a no-hitter as the Elmira baseball team beat Ithaca 4-0 in the first game in their new stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
Mashanic threw the no-hitter, striking out eight and walking three in the win.
For the Express it marked the first game in their new stadium at the high school. On a rainy afternoon the Express got a dominant pitching performance and scored three runs in the sixth to break the game open.
Ashtyn Traugott-Knoll scored the first run in the new stadium for the Express in the second inning, stealing third and scoring on an error.
Logan Demember had two hits in the game for Elmira, with a double, and a run scored.
Brady Morrell had a double, an RBI and a run scored for Elmira and Traugott-Knoll had a hit, an RBI and a run scored, while Bobby Cavalier had a hit and an RBI. ———— PHOTOS BY BRIAN FEES
