HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: SIXTH INNING THE DIFFERENCE AS ELMIRA IS EDGED AT U-E (2024-04-17)

ENDICOTT — Elmira struck first, but a five-run sixth inning was the difference as they fell to Union-Endicott 7-2 on Wednesday.

Elmira scored in the first inning, but the Tigers took a 2-0 lead in the third. In the fourth Elmira tied the game, before the Tigers got the five runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Lily Cornacchio had two hits and scored a run for Elmira and Marly Devlin, Addisyn Chorney, Kate Thomas, Maddy Cavalier and Madison Smith each had hits in the game.

Chorney scored a run and Smith and Ryleigh Ogden had RBI in the game.

Devlin worked 5 1/3 innings, striking out five and Smith got the final two outs.
