HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: SULLIVAN HITS TWO HOME RUNS TO HELP CORNING TOP WILLIAMSON (2024-04-17)

CORNING — Senior Peyton Sullivan hit two home runs to help Corning beat Williamson 11-5 in a non-league game.

Sullivan hit two home runs and now has three in four games this year and has 11 RBI on the season. Eighth-grader Sophie Schoonover also hit her first home run of the year.

Sullivan was 2-for-2 with the two home runs, four RBI and the two runs scored. Schooner was 2-for-3 with three RBI and the home run and two runs scored.

Sophia Polzella had a double and scored two runs and Matti Johnson, Kendall Curreri, Lauren DeRosa and Emelia Smith all had hits for Corning.

Johnston, Smith and Kayleigh Sparks all scored runs in the game and DeRosa scored two runs for Corning.

Sullivan worked four innings, allowing two hits and five runs, just two earned, striking out eight. Johnston worked three perfect innings, striking out four.

Kenna Thomas of Williamson had two hits, with a double, two RBI and two runs scored.
